Klondike GP - Ryan Watkins reporting
My first Premier Calendar race up in Middlesbrough was a good experience. Real tough course with a lot of wind on the day! With a 2.5 mile neutralised zone, I tried to move up as much as I could to get towards the front which was easier said than done. The race started reasonably quick but was comfortable sitting in the big bunch. Got over the first few climbs which were hard but especially with the wind. Unfortunately in the one climb I got caught behind a crash towards the back, therefore detached from the main bunch. I fought hard over the top of the climb but was going straight in to a head wind and unfortunately didn’t make it back on. Tough First National series race as an under 23, learnt a lot, good experience
