Otley GP

Otley Town centre Crit- 3rd July- E12- 50th place - Kieran Hotsonreporting:

With this race being one of the biggest town centre races on the calendar, for sure I was really looking forward to riding Otley and hoping for a better result of surviving this race after the other weeks disaster at ilkley not having the legs.

The conditions were lovely on the night with a late 8:45pm start but still warm and a little light still left. The opening laps of the race predictably were absolutely full gas. With the bunch tearing up the long draggy climb as attack after attack went up the road with nothing getting a big gap. Just the bunch chasing hard each lap hitting up to 50kph going up the climb on the fastest laps and hitting 76kph on the descent back into the town.

Heading into the last 10 laps and there were many bodies going out the back including some big names. I managed to keep myself in the main group all the way to the end finishing up 50th place. A tough day out for sure. Not a super result but really happy to finish given the pace of the race.
