Nickname? Coppers, because my second name is Copley.
Started cycling aged? I started cycling at the age of 13 just after the 2012 Olympics. I joined my local cycling club a month later and never looked back.
First bike? I first attended the cycling club on my Dad’s hybrid bike for a few weeks, until I took my Dad’s Pinarello FP due and rode/raced on that for 18 months.
What inspired you to cycle? I had always enjoyed it, but I never really had followed up on it. After the Olympics I was inspired by Bradley Wiggins winning the Time Trial.
Favourite place to ride? Calpe is a amazing place to train and ride, but in 2018 I was fortunate enough to ride in a few different countries and I still stand by the fact Montenegro is the most beautiful place to ride a bike, even if the country isn’t set up with cycling infrastructure.
Post race meal? If I’m not racing for a while after my race I love a chicken Katsu curry from the service station on the way home.
What inspires you to keep going when on the limit? Well if I’m hurting, I imagine how everyone else is feeling.
Who is your cycling hero and why? Tony Martin, purely on his ability to suffer like no one else.
What has cycling taught you? Organisation, discipline and when everything goes wrong, just keep riding.
Favourite music? I enjoy Eminem, but recently I’ve been getting into Panic at the Disco.
Favourite film? Blind Side is a brilliant movie.
Interesting fact about you? I broke my toe when I accidentally kicked my sister in the shin, whilst jumping on a trampoline. We thought it was just sore, but it’s now set at a slight angle and looks bizarre!
